In the U.S., wolves stand at a crossroads of meaning. Are they sacred guides and protectors, as seen through the eyes of many Indigenous peoples, or shadows to be erased from the land? They remain a steady barometer of wildness, measuring a society’s willingness to live in harmony with the untamed.

Influenced by time spent in the GYE and encounters with wolves through the changing seasons, this piece invites reflection on what we choose to protect and what we allow to fade.

Mixed Media: watercolor, gouache, and pigment ink.

This original is 16" x 20" and custom-matted in a black frame.
